LGBTQ+ 101: Cultural Humility Training for Caregivers

SAFY is committed to building a diverse community where everyone feels safe, welcome, and included. We're thrilled to offer a virtual training for ALL caregivers or potential caregivers! Our training will provide an overview of LGBTQ inclusive language and best practices for working effectively with our community.

This training is open to everyone . SAFY foster parents will receive training hours for attendance.

The Magic City Acceptance Center (MCAC) is a brave and radically inclusive space for the LGBTQ community in Alabama. Opened in the Spring of 2014, MCAC offers both in-person and state-wide LGBTQ programs and events for LGBTQ and strongly allied individuals of all ages.

Training objectives include:

• Increase knowledge of LGBTQ-affirming language

• Raise awareness of LGBTQ community needs and current barriers that exist

• Improve perceptions and attitudes through education

• Increase LGBTQ affirming behaviors and policies
